Visa Application

Apply for a Visa

Foreign passport holders travelling to Cameroon are hereby informed that  our
new visa application forms are now available for download or at our office, and they will henceforth fulfil the following requirements in order to obtain a visa form the High Commission.

Please read the following notes carefully as they provide up to date information which may not be present on the visa application form.

Also see the new consular services fees effective from the 1st August 2019.

For visitors requiring expedited visas, please read the following public notice.

An additional charge of £30.00 is payable for those requiring their visa to be sent to them by post.

(A)   Documents to be submitted:

  1. A passport valid for at least 6 months.

  2. Two completed application forms.

  3. Two clear passport-size photographs taken frontally.

  4. A stamped self-addressed envelope if you require the visa to be posted back to you.

  5. A legalised letter of invitation with the Cameroon Police from either the host/contact/partner in Cameroon (accompanied by a legalised copy of the Cameroonian National Identity Card or Residence Permit).

  6. Return or continuation ticket.

  7. Bank statement (at least £1, 000), except where a tour operator/travel agency is organising a trip.

  8. Travel Insurance.

  9. A Valid Poliomyelitis Vaccination Certificate.

  10. Marriage Certificate for mixed couple and a letter from the Cameroonian partner.

  11. Child’s Birth Certificate and a letter from one or both parents allowing the child to travel. This must be accompanied by the parent’s identification document (e.g. passport) for cross-referencing procedures.

   (B)  Official/Diplomatic/Courtesy visas:

  1. Items 1, 2, & 3 (in section A) and a note verbal are required

  2. Conditions of reciprocity apply

 Application Procedure

Completed applications should be lodged at the consular service desk of the High Commission between 10.00am to 13.00pm, Monday to Thursday, except on bank, (public) holidays in England and Cameroon. The High Commission’s services is closed to the public on Fridays.

The presence of visa applicants at the High Commission may be required for purposes of identification.

Expedited (same day) processing services are also available at an additional fee.

Visa application fees are non-refundable whether your application is successful or not.

Collection is between 3:30pm and 4.30pm every working day (unless otherwise indicated in your receipt of payment). Request for accelerated processing should be justified. If not, it is the normal waiting period, which applies.

Visa and Passport Application Fees:

  1. 1 day to 3 months = £110.00
  2. 1 day to 6 months = £220.00
  3. Passport (Ordinary): £160.00

NB: In cash or postal money order please. The above amounts are subject to variation.

Currency Regulations (on entry)

Importation: No limit on amount of foreign currency. Total amount must be declared for travelling residents.

Exportation: The amount of local currency (cash) that can be exported is limited to £20.

Sanitary Requirements

Compulsory vaccines:

  1. Yellow Fever

  2. Cholera (If coming from affected area). Proof required at port of entry.

Recommended Vaccines

  1. Typhoid

  2. Meningitis

  3. Malaria protection


The importation of firearms is subjected to prior authorisation by competent Cameroonian authorities. Applications can be made through the High Commission.

Journalist and Cinematographers:

  1. Require accreditation to operate in Cameroon.

  2. Forms are available at the High Commission or downloaded from the Ministry of Communication website.

  3. All accreditation formalities are completed by the competent Department of the Ministry of Communication in Yaoundé.

  4. The above conditions do not apply to amateur/tourist photography. Airports, military personnel in uniform and strategic sites may not be photographed.


The Port Police will issue authorisation to seamen stopping over if they need to leave the port area. They must have ample justification.


Complementary information for visa application for applicants under the age of majority

  • A photocopy of both parent’s passports (if applicable).
  • A copy of the birth certificate of the child/children intending to travel.
  • A certified/legalised letter of parental authorization must be filled by both parents in case they are not travelling with their child. Where one of the parent is traveling with the child, the other parent must give authorization for travel. All parental authorisations must be signed, dated, and accompanied with a copy of the ID and contact details of the signatories.
  • A separate visa application form must be filled and signed for each child.


Visa Processing Time

All visa applications take an average estimated period of ten (10) working days to process. An expedited Service for processing on the same day of the request is also offered.


Visas by Post – Registered Mail Only

Visa applications sent by post will only be accepted and processed if all the required documents are enclosed. In case a passport will not be retrieved in person, a Pre-Paid self- addressed envelope must be provided by the applicant.
